The Stories

About Arias – Roberto Forleo’s choreographic piece, “Arias,” skillfully intertwines some of the most beloved characters and musical themes from the vast opera repertoire. This captivating ballet seamlessly blends masterful dancing with expressive movements, allowing the audience to deeply engage with the emotional depth of opera’s most iconic figures. Each performance powerfully illustrates themes of passion, conflict, and triumph, encouraging viewers to connect with the dramatic stories that have enchanted audiences for generations. Through “Arias,” Forleo not only honors the operatic tradition but also breathes new life into these timeless tales through his choregraphy, making them relevant and impactful for contemporary audiences.

About Napoli – “Napoli” is a lively ballet created in 1842 by Danish choreographer Auguste Bournonville, inspired by his experiences in the bustling city of Naples, Italy. The ballet embodies the vibrant colors and energy of the city, showcasing its dynamic spirit through dance. The narrative begins with Teresina, who is in love with Gennaro, a humble fisherman. Their romance blossoms amidst the lively backdrop of the city, filled with colorful characters and festive celebrations. As the story unfolds, Teresina faces challenges, particularly from her father, who wishes for her to marry a wealthier suitor, the Duke. Despite the obstacles, Teresina’s love for Gennaro remains strong. The climax of the story occurs during a grand celebration, where Teresina and Gennaro’s love triumphs over adversity. The ballet culminates in a spirited tarantella, a traditional dance that symbolizes joy and festivity, marking the couple’s engagement and the approval of their love. Ultimately, “Napoli” is a celebration of love, community, and the vibrant spirit of the city, leaving audiences with a sense of joy and fulfillment.

Throughout the performance, the music shifts seamlessly between playful and romantic themes, reflecting the journey of the characters.
