Under the direction of Artistic Director Roberto Forleo, The Florida Ballet offers programs designed for beginning, intermediate, and pre-professional levels.

Summer Intensive Upper Division, Collegiate, & Company Experience:

Ballet’s Summer Intensive offers a 3-week and 2-week program designed for intermediate through pre-professional dancers. Designed for dancers ages 12+ (females must have a minimum of one year on pointe), the program exposes students to a variety of styles and disciplines guided by a world class faculty. Students attend daily ballet technique, pointe class, men’s class, variations class, partnering, as well as, modern, contemporary, and jazz classes.

At the conclusion of this program, students who demonstrate exceptional talent, potential and commitment, may be invited to join The Florida Ballet Conservatory Program, a rigorous year-round pre-professional training program for aspiring young dancers.

FLB Summer Intensive Lower Division

Summer Intensive dates:

June 10th – 29th, Summer Intensive – Session 1

Lower Division (ages 8+)

The Florida Ballet’s Summer Intensive Lower Division is designed as an introduction to more intensive training dedicated to young aspiring dancers in a positive, nurturing, and professional environment. Designed for dancers ages 8+ (must have one year of ballet training) the program will focus on the foundation of classical ballet technique with key elements of the ABT National Training Curriculum. The students will be exposed to a variety of disciplines including modern dance, jazz, conditioning, and repertoire.

Storybook Journeys Program

August 5th – 9th Storybook Journey – Session 2

(ages 5-8)

Storybook Journeys is a creative exploration of dance, music, and art for children ages 5-8. Young dancers embark on a multi-sensory tour of designated storybook themes while delving into their own creativity through the integration of dance, visual art, choreography, and music.

Introduction to ballet and creative movement allows students to build movement vocabulary, coordination, and strength. Daily crafts take students beyond the studio to create costume pieces, dance props, and other accessories that inspire artistic expression and imagination. Program meets M-F, 9 am-12 noon.

Beginner Ballet & Ballet 2 (Ages 8 – 12)

June 17- July 26

Summer is a great time to explore new opportunities. Beginner Ballet is perfect for novice students, this class will introduce the beginning foundation of classical ballet. Ballet 2 is for students 9 and up who are currently in Ballet 2 or the equivalent. Boys and girls are welcome! No audition required.

Pre-Primary Ballet (Ages 3 & 4)

June 17- July 26

Perfect for the tiniest of dancers, this 6-week session introduces students ages 3 and 4 to rhythm, coordination, and creative movement.

Primary Ballet (Ages 5 – 7)

June 17 – July 26

An hour-long class designed to create a foundation for proper classical ballet training. The curriculum strikes a healthy balance between structure and self-expression. Some Creative Movement techniques remain in place including improvisation, and the use of thought-provoking props. In addition, students begin to learn basic terminology and movement that will be utilized as they transition into the next level.

Adult Summer Intensive

July 22 – July 26

The Adult Intensive is a program geared towards our teen-aged and adult students looking to further their dance training. All levels are welcome! Each day will include one ballet technique class, followed by either pointe/ pre-pointe, Pilates, contemporary, or repertoire. If you’re looking for a combination of exercise, art, and enriching dance, sign up today! Classes run Monday-Friday, July 22-26 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. The cost is $35 a day or $150 for the entire week
